Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Policy
Fratelli Group is committed to preventing work-related injury and ill-health, including physical and psychological injury, of its staff, contractors and visitors within its working environment.
Our policy is to ensure that any work carried out within the scope of the business is conducted in compliance with the HSEQMS and complies with all applicable regulatory requirements.
Emphasis will be placed on effective management, ensuring a systematic approach to the identification of hazards and risks, including physical, psychosocial and organisational risks (such as work-related stress, fatigue, bullying, harassment, excessive workloads and climate change factors), using a hierarchy of controls to eliminate or minimise these risks so far as is reasonably practicable.
To deliver these responsibilities, we undertake to:
• maintain a safe and healthy place of work by providing plant, equipment, and systems of work that reduce risks to people’s physical and psychological health and safety,
• identify, assess and control psychosocial hazards and support positive mental health and wellbeing within the workplace,
• promote OHS awareness within the company and encourage workers to participate in consultation and decision-making processes within the HSEQMS,
• provide a workplace free from bullying, harassment, discrimination and unsafe behaviours,
• ensure compliance with all relevant safety legislation, regulations, codes of practice, and other
requirements associated with our operations,
• for outsourced processes or services, determine criteria and control methods to conform to our
requirements and regulatory authorities,
• arrange for the effective planning, organisation, control, monitoring, and review of preventative and protective measures,
• have in place a framework for setting and reviewing measurable OHS objectives and targets across all relevant functions and levels,
• train, educate, and inform our workers about OHS issues, including mental health awareness and psychosocial risk management,
• commit to reporting OHS performance with measurable targets to ensure continued improvement.
Daniel Zappia has been appointed as the Management Representative for the HSEQMS. The Management Representative has the full support of Fratelli Group to establish, implement, and maintain the HSEQMS in accordance with AS/NZS ISO 45001:2018 and other applicable regulations, standards, and guidance.
Environmental Policy
Fratelli Group is committed to managing and minimising the environmental impacts of our business activities and ensuring sustainable operations across all projects and services.
It is our policy to conduct all work in an environmentally responsible and sustainable manner, in compliance with all applicable environmental legislation, regulations, codes of practice, and other requirements, including those addressing climate change and environmental protection.
We recognise that climate change presents both risks and opportunities to our business and the communities in which we operate. Fratelli Group is committed to contributing to climate change mitigation and adaptation by reducing emissions, improving resource efficiency, and strengthening environmental resilience within our operations.
This commitment ensures that operations do not unnecessarily endanger flora, fauna, sensitive areas, or sites of heritage and/or indigenous importance.
To achieve this, we will:
• promote environmental awareness within the company and encourage workers to operate in an environmentally responsible and sustainable manner,
• identify, assess and manage environmental aspects and impacts, including those related to climate change risks and opportunities,
• commit to pollution prevention, waste minimisation, responsible resource use, and continual improvement of environmental performance,
• integrate sustainability principles into planning, procurement, construction, and operational decision-making,
• reduce energy consumption, greenhouse gas emissions, and resource use where reasonably practicable,
• establish and review measurable environmental objectives and targets, including those supporting climate resilience and sustainability outcomes,
• ensure compliance with all relevant environmental legislation and other obligations,
• train, educate and inform workers about environmental responsibilities and the environmental and climate impacts of our activities,
• provide appropriate resources to effectively implement and maintain the Environmental Management System (EMS).
This Environmental Management Policy forms part of Fratelli Group’s Integrated Management System and includes a commitment to continual improvement and fulfilment of compliance obligations.
The policy will be communicated to all workers, contractors, suppliers and relevant external parties, made publicly available where appropriate, and displayed prominently throughout the organisation.
The nominated Environmental Manager will review this policy annually, or sooner if required, to ensure its ongoing suitability, adequacy and effectiveness.
Daniel Zappia has been appointed as the Management Representative for the EMS. The Management Representative has full authority and support to establish, implement and maintain the EMS in accordance with AS/NZS ISO 14001:2016 and other applicable regulations, standards and guidance.
Quality Policy
Fratelli Group is committed to promoting the use of a process-based approach to quality management. Decisions made within the company consider using risk-based thinking. Senior Management will ensure that the effective mix of resources is made available to achieve the outputs required against our customers’ requirements, while also considering potential quality impacts due to climate change risks.
The Senior Management Group is committed to ensuring customer requirements are met, and efforts are focused on enhancing customer satisfaction while meeting our statutory and regulatory requirements.
While ensuring and maintaining our customer focus, our company will identify risks and opportunities associated with the conformity of our products and services against our customer and regulatory requirements. The Quality Policy is communicated throughout Fratelli Group through induction manuals, training events and by being displayed prominently throughout the site. The nominated Quality Manager will review the Quality Policy in consultation with relevant persons at regular intervals (annually) or sooner when deemed necessary.
Daniel Zappia has been appointed as the Management Representative for quality management within the company. The Management Representative has the full support of Fratelli Group to establish, implement, and maintain quality assurance following this manual, ISO 9001:2016, and other applicable regulations, standards, and guidance.
Mental Health
1. Purpose
Fratelli Group is committed to providing a safe, healthy, and supportive workplace for all employees, contractors, apprentices, and subcontractors. We recognise that mental health is just as important as physical health and that the nature of landscape and civil construction
work can involve pressures that impact wellbeing.
This policy outlines our commitment to promoting positive mental health, preventing psychological harm, and supporting workers experiencing mental health challenges.
2. Scope
This policy applies to all:
• Employees
• Directors and managers
• Supervisors and leading hands
• Apprentices and trainees
• Contractors and subcontractors
• Labour hire personnel
• Visitors while on company worksites or premises
3. Our Commitment
Fratelli Group is committed to:
• Creating a workplace culture where mental health is respected and supported
• Reducing stigma associated with mental health issues
• Providing a psychologically safe workplace
• Identifying and managing psychosocial hazards
• Encouraging early intervention and support
• Supporting workers returning to work following mental health-related leave
• Complying with all applicable Work Health and Safety (WHS) legislation
4. Workplace Mental Health Risks
We acknowledge that landscape and civil construction environments may expose workers to mental health risks including:
• High workloads and tight deadlines
• Long hours and fatigue
• Physically demanding work
• Exposure to adverse weather conditions
• Workplace conflict or bullying
• Job insecurity
• Isolation when working remotely
• Financial stress
• Exposure to traumatic incidents or serious injuries
The company will take reasonable steps to identify, assess, and manage these psychosocial risks.
5. Responsibilities
Management
Management is responsible for:
• Demonstrating leadership and promoting positive mental health
• Ensuring this policy is implemented and reviewed
• Providing appropriate support and resources
• Responding appropriately to mental health concerns
• Maintaining confidentiality where appropriate
• Ensuring workers are not discriminated against due to mental health conditions
Supervisors
Supervisors and site leaders are responsible for:
• Monitoring team wellbeing
• Encouraging respectful behaviour
• Identifying signs of distress or fatigue
• Reporting and addressing psychosocial hazards
• Supporting workers seeking help
• Escalating concerns when required
Workers
Workers are responsible for:
• Treating others respectfully
• Looking after their own mental health and wellbeing
• Raising concerns early where possible
• Participating in mental health initiatives and training
• Reporting hazards, bullying, harassment, or unsafe behaviour
6. Support Available
Workers are encouraged to seek support early if experiencing mental health concerns.
Support options may include:
• Speaking with a supervisor or manager
• Access to an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) (if applicable)
• Mental health first aid officers
• GP or healthcare providers
• External support services such as:

In emergencies, workers should contact 000 immediately.
7. Bullying, Harassment & Discrimination
Fratelli Group has zero tolerance for:
• Workplace bullying
• Harassment
• Discrimination
• Aggressive or intimidating behaviour
Any reports will be treated seriously and investigated in accordance with company procedures.
8. Fitness for Work
Workers must present fit for work, both physically and mentally.
Where mental health issues may impact safety, the company will work collaboratively with the worker to identify suitable support measures, which may include:
• Adjusted duties
• Flexible work arrangements
• Leave entitlements
• Return-to-work planning
9. Training & Awareness
The company may provide:
• Mental health awareness training
• Toolbox talks
• Fatigue management education
• Leadership training for supervisors
• Mental health and wellbeing initiatives
10. Confidentiality
All mental health matters will be handled sensitively and confidentially, subject to legal and safety obligations.
Information will only be shared where necessary to protect health and safety or where required by law.
11. Reporting Concerns
Workers are encouraged to report:
• Psychosocial hazards
• Unsafe behaviours
• Workplace stress concerns
• Bullying or harassment
• Fatigue issues
• Mental health concerns affecting safety
Reports can be made to:
• Supervisors
• Managers
• HR representatives
• WHS representatives
12. Review
This policy will be reviewed:
• Every two years
• Following significant incidents
• Following legislative changes
• When workplace risks change
